第 4 聲與第 8 聲都是入聲，字尾是 -p、-t、-k 或 -h，聲音很短就收住。在台羅裡，第 8 聲多一條直線調符，第 4 聲沒有調符。在字典音檔裡，第 8 聲聽起來比第 4 聲高，先用耳朵分辨兩者的高低。
